🔹 Conference Theme

New Challenges: New Questions for Media, Cultural Arts, Entertainment, and AI Convergence

ICCEI 2026 takes place at a critical historical moment marked by rapidly changing media environments, structural transformations in the cultural and entertainment industries, and the accelerating diffusion of AI technologies. Against this backdrop, the conference seeks to re-examine the assumptions and methodologies that have guided existing research, and to foreground the “New Challenges” facing convergent research in media, cultural arts, entertainment, and AI.

This conference seeks to engage with the following core questions:

* How are digital platforms and generative AI transforming the central questions of cultural and entertainment research?

* In what ways do humans, technologies, algorithms, and platforms operate as new agents in the production and circulation of culture?

* To what extent can existing theories of media, culture, and entertainment adequately explain today’s convergent environments?

* What new units of analysis and methodological approaches are required in cultural and entertainment industry research?

* What challenges do Hallyu and local cultures face within the evolving global cultural landscape?

ICCEI 2026 goes beyond sharing current research outcomes. It serves as an international forum for proposing new research agendas and critical challenges that will shape the future of cultural and entertainment studies.
